Balearic young lawyers halt 8 October election

Palma, Mallorca: Young lawyers across the Balearics no longer have an election on 8 October. The Association of Young Lawyers of the Balearic Islands (Ajaib) has suspended the vote while it reviews formal details and how the election is run. The pause was announced on Wednesday, 30 September, in a statement from the Balearic Bar Association.

Ajaib says the checks are intended to ensure the election runs properly. It has not set a new date and says it will tell all members when the vote is called again.

Two teams were standing. Talia Martínez was seeking the presidency for ‘Avanzamos juntos’, with Víctor Manuel Villar as her running mate for vice-president. ‘Somos nosotros’ put forward Álvaro Martín for president and Luis Baena for vice-president. Both teams now face a wait for the next election date.
