Mallorca Weather in June: Temperatures, Activities & Travel Tips
June fires the starting gun for Mallorca's summer — and many seasoned visitors consider it the best month of the year on the island. With 27°C daytime temperatures, 10 hours of sunshine and a water temperature that finally reaches a swimworthy 22°C, June combines summer abundance with a relaxed ease that the peak months simply cannot match. The school holidays have not yet begun in most of Europe, the beaches are lively but not packed, and the evenings on the terraces of Palma are long and balmy. June is the month when Mallorca delivers on every promise it has ever made.

Twenty-seven degrees and sunshine from morning to evening — June on Mallorca feels like pure summer. The heat is still bearable, however, because humidity sits at a comfortable 62%. Unlike muggy August, June remains dry and clear. Even at midday in Palma, a stroll through the city is still perfectly enjoyable without dissolving into a puddle of perspiration.
The nights at 18°C are mild enough for dinner outdoors without needing a jacket. This is a crucial difference from spring: in June, you can sit outside the entire evening without feeling the slightest chill. Restaurant terraces fill up from sundown, and the atmosphere in places like Santa Catalina and the old town is wonderfully convivial.
The water temperature of 22°C marks the official start of the bathing season. The first plunge is still refreshing, but after a few minutes you adjust completely. Along the shallow east coast at Cala Millor and Sa Coma, the water near the shore is often even warmer. Our water temperature overview shows how rapidly the sea heats up from this point.
What to Do in Mallorca in June
Beach Days in Perfect Balance: June offers the best combination of warm weather and tolerable beach conditions. The top beaches — Es Trenc, Cala Varques and Playa de Muro — are accessible and pleasantly busy, but not yet overwhelmed as they will be in August. Arrive early: before 10 o'clock, you will find space at almost any cove. Es Trenc in particular, with its Caribbean-white sand and crystal water, is at its absolute best in June before the summer crowds arrive.
The Nightlife Awakens: With the first truly warm evenings, Mallorca's beach clubs and rooftop bars throw open their doors for the season. The Puro Beach Club in Palma, the terrace at Hotel Hostal Cuba and the chiringuitos along Playa de Palma set the tone for summer. Magaluf and El Arenal launch into party season, but Palma's Santa Catalina quarter offers the more stylish alternative — think craft cocktails, live music and a creative crowd rather than mass-market entertainment.
St John's Eve (Nit de Sant Joan): On 23rd June, all of Mallorca celebrates the shortest night of the year — the Nit de Sant Joan. Bonfires blaze on the beaches, families picnic until midnight, and at the stroke of twelve, the brave leap over the flames, which is said to bring good luck. The beach at Cala Major in Palma is the traditional hotspot, but smaller coves like Portals Nous also celebrate until dawn. It is one of those magical, unmistakably Mediterranean evenings that stays with you long after you return home.
Sailing and Water Sports: June brings reliable south-westerly winds — ideal for sailors. The Copa del Rey preparations begin, and the charter base in Palma harbour runs at full tilt. Stand-up paddleboarding, kayaking and snorkelling also become genuinely enjoyable at 22°C water temperature. The coastline between Port de Soller and Sa Calobra, explored by kayak, is one of the Mediterranean's great hidden adventures.
Is June a Good Time to Visit Mallorca?
Unequivocally yes — for many Mallorca devotees, June is the best month of all. It unites summer beach weather with moderate tourist numbers and prices that have not yet hit the July-August peak. The 2 rainy days per month are almost negligible — when it rains, it tends to be a brief, dramatic downpour followed by dazzling blue sky.
For families with school-age children, June is often the last window before the summer holidays — some regions have already broken up, but most have not. Those with flexibility will find lower prices and emptier beaches in the first half of June compared to the second.
Walkers and cyclists should bear in mind that 27°C is already warm for intensive mountain routes. The best time for outdoor sport in June is between 7 and 11 in the morning and from 5 in the evening onwards. The midday hours are best spent at the beach or enjoying a civilised siesta. This rhythm — early activity, afternoon rest, evening exploration — is the key to making the most of a June visit.
Packing Tips for Mallorca in June
Summer clothes dominate: shorts, t-shirts, light dresses and sandals for the day. For the evening, a light long-sleeved shirt is ample. Swimwear goes without saying, along with suncream of at least SPF 50 — the June sun is intense, particularly between noon and 4 o'clock. A sun hat and good sunglasses are indispensable. Beach shoes protect your feet on rocky coves. A thin scarf or sarong is endlessly versatile: as a beach blanket, shoulder covering for church visits or a light wrap on the Cabrera ferry.
