Mallorca water temperature in June: start of the bathing season

June is the first month on Mallorca in which swimming no longer feels like a test of courage, but like the start of the season. The sea averages 21°C: cool and refreshing when getting in, pleasant after the first swimming strokes. At the same time, daytime highs rise to just under 27°C, so beach days, long lunch breaks by the water and early dinners with sea views go very well together.

Anyone who wants to place the development over the whole year will find the overview in the main article Mallorca water temperature. For travel planning, it is also worth taking a look at the Mallorca climate table, especially if beach, hiking and restaurant evenings are to be combined.

How warm is the sea in June?

21°C is not tropical bathing water, but exactly the temperature that many Mallorca connoisseurs appreciate: fresh enough to invigorate on hot days, and warm enough for regular swimming. Especially in the late morning and in the afternoon, the water feels more pleasant because the air is significantly warmer.

Compared with the spring months, the difference is clearly noticeable. Anyone still unsure can compare the weather feeling with April; anyone who likes it warmer and fuller can look at August. June lies exactly in between: summery, but not yet at the limit.

The best beaches for June swimming days

For premium travellers, June is particularly attractive because many of the well-known coastal resorts are already open, but not yet at maximum capacity. Camp de Mar is ideal for everyone looking for short distances, well-kept gastronomy and calm swimming. The water here is often particularly pleasant for a first longer lap because the bay feels sheltered.

Es Trenc shows its elegant, bright side in June: turquoise water, lots of light and still enough space for a relaxed beach day. Those who prefer to arrive in the evening combine swimming with a walk in the shallow shore zone. For a more upscale harbour atmosphere, Port d'Andratx is a good choice: swimming in the surrounding area during the day, aperitif by the water in the evening.

Wind, sun and comfort

With an average of 10.4 hours of sunshine per day, June is clearly set up for outdoors. Nevertheless, it is worth taking a look at Mallorca wind, because light breezes can change the swimming feeling: in sheltered bays, 21°C often feels milder, on open sections somewhat fresher. The wind situation is also an important comfort factor for boat trips and stand-up paddling.

Rain plays only a small role in June, but can shift individual daily plans. The page Mallorca rain helps to better classify short weather windows. Overall, the month remains excellent for travellers who want to experience Mallorca as Mediterranean, bright and already suitable for swimming, without the full high-season density.
