THE SYMPOSIUM – 1st Amateur Theatre Competition

Performance of “EL SIMPOSI” by TeatrEROS as part of the 1st Amateur Theatre Competition at Teatre de Petra. SYNOPSIS: This is the story, the possible story, of a merchant’s farewell dinner. Émporos is a Phocaean merchant, a Phocaean from Phocaea, who, for reasons beyond his control and by the designs of gods and men, has settled with his family in the port of Elea, in Magna Graecia. Émporos must set sail tomorrow with a chosen crew and his ship, heading west, from a time long ago: the 6th century BC. Emporos is about to begin his trading voyage towards an uncertain, unpredictable, unsuspected destination... Ahem, but no spoilers... We will see what is cooking in the kitchen of his home. A comedy that seeks to emulate ancient comedies: entertaining, instructive and beautiful all at once.
