Barcelona–Ibiza ferry fares drop 19% in autumn
Barcelona–Ibiza ferry fares fall 19% in autumn compared with summer, according to a Ferryscanner analysis published on 7 October 2026. The booking platform finds an even sharper change on the same route in 2026: September fares were 33% lower than in August. On Barcelona–Mahón, the autumn drop was 16%.
Other Mediterranean routes saw bigger falls. Fares between Ios and Santorini dropped 37%, while Santorini–Milos fell 20%. But a cheaper fare on a particular route does not mean every ferry trip costs less.
Across all bookings, the average price per passenger edged up from €41.70 in summer to €42.40 in autumn. Ferryscanner puts that down to a larger share of longer journeys. Comparing the same connections instead, it found autumn prices were about 2% lower.
Activity among Spanish passengers fell 60% from summer to autumn. Even so, passengers used more than 600 routes and reached 233 destinations in autumn 2025. Ferryscanner says links between mainland Spain and the Balearic Islands remained well used. Its marketing director, Alexia Kotsi, says the quieter period gives travellers more flexibility to plan trips and avoid the busiest times.
