Bunyola care home to open 120 places in 2027

A finished building in sa Coma, Bunyola, is set to become the municipality’s first public care home, with 120 places for older people who need support. The home is due to complete its opening in the first half of 2027. Construction cost €13.8 million.

The next task is to award the contract for furniture and equipment, according to the Regional Ministry for Families, Social Welfare and Dependency Care.

Six sections for care and treatment

The building covers more than 5,500 square metres and is divided into six sections. These separate bedrooms, general services and care areas, while gardens are planned outside.

Residents will have single and double rooms with bathrooms and showers, as well as specialist geriatric bathrooms, shared rooms and social and cultural spaces. The home will also include nursing, a control unit, occupational therapy, physiotherapy and rehabilitation rooms, medical care, social work and psychology.

Hairdressing, podiatry, a kitchen and laundry are also included. Guillermo Sánchez, president of the Mallorca Institute of Social Affairs, said the project was an important step in expanding the public residential-care network, which the institute wants to keep growing.
