Muro, on Mallorca, faces Sant Francesc Xavier, on Formentera, in a Christmas lights vote: one of the villages will move on to the next round. They are the Balearic Islands’ two entries in a 34-town competition launched by Ferrero Rocher, with a special Christmas light display for the overall winner. Votes for Formentera close at midnight on 8 November.
The Formentera Island Council says the contest is a chance to draw attention to Sant Francesc Xavier and to Formentera’s identity and charm.
