Palma e-scooter crash ends in arrest over court order
Palma, Mallorca: A 27-year-old e-scooter rider hits the back of a car on Wednesday and is arrested when police find an outstanding court order. The crash happens at 16.00 on Torcuato Luca de Tena street, near number 43.
The rider had been using the cycle lane on Aragón street, according to the Palma Local Police’s initial findings. He leaves the lane as he turns into Torcuato Luca de Tena and continues on the road. The car ahead brakes to enter a car park. He cannot stop in time and hits its rear, damaging the vehicle.
The driver calls the police. When officers speak to the e-scooter rider, he says he has no compulsory liability insurance and no identity document with him. He gives them his details verbally.
A police check reveals an order for his search, arrest and appearance before a court. Officers arrest him, and he has a precautionary medical check. Palma Local Police then hand him and the case papers to the National Police so he can be brought before a court.
