Mallorca’s Sant Llorenç des Cardassar remembers 13 people killed in a flood: residents and officials hold a minute’s silence on Friday, 9 October 2026. The flood struck the municipality on 9 October 2018. Balearic Islands government president Marga Prohens marks the anniversary in a post on X, remembering the victims and their families.

Prohens also pays tribute to the emergency workers and volunteers who helped the town recover. She says work on a bypass, previously held up, has begun during the current legislative term. She says the project will help prevent another tragedy like the 2018 flood.
