Mallorca cyclist: fights for life after Lluc heart arrest

A 47-year-old cyclist is in intensive care after suffering a heart and breathing arrest near the football pitch at Lluc Monastery in Escorca, Mallorca, on Saturday morning. He collapsed at about 10.25am. Witnesses, including several off-duty doctors and nurses, began cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
SAMU 061 said emergency crews were called after the cyclist was reported unconscious and in cardiac arrest. Its paramedics arrived by medical helicopter and landed on the football pitch close to where he was lying.
They joined the resuscitation effort before taking him to Son Espases University Hospital. He was admitted to the intensive care unit in a serious condition.
