Mallorca traffic clears but Calvià roads stay shut
Mallorca’s traffic is flowing again on 19 October after heavy rain brought kilometre-long morning tailbacks, but some streets in Calvià on Mallorca remain closed. The rain came with the Dana Adam weather system. Spain’s Directorate-General for Traffic says there are no delays or incidents on roads across Mallorca, Eivissa, Formentera and Menorca.
Palma road and bus routes reopen
In Palma on Mallorca, traffic has returned to Camí dels Reis, the local police say. Flooding near Son Espases Hospital had forced a closure there.
Intercity bus routes 101, 102 and 202 have resumed their usual services after a weather-related suspension. Bus services in the west of Mallorca are also running again.
Calvià still has local closures
Calvià council says streets in Magaluf, including Góngora, Punta Ballena and Galeón, have reopened. Traffic is also moving again through the La Romana roundabout in Peguera and the Marineland roundabout. In Son Ferrer, traffic has reopened in one direction from roundabout nine towards El Toro.
But París and Duque Estremera streets and Son Maties Avenue in Magaluf remain closed. So do Santa Ponça Avenue outside the municipal swimming pool and Hermanos Pinzones street in Cala Vinyes, where standing water and a broken-down vehicle block the way.
Crews still need to clear landslips from the Son Pillo and Peguera–Es Capdellà roads. Fallen trees are keeping Sant Eduard street in Costa d’en Blanes and Jaume I street in Palmanova closed. The council is working to reopen Riu Sil street and the Santa Ponça roundabout, while clearing drains and putting displaced manhole covers and bins back in place in areas hit by the storm.
