€6.64m Ibiza language school plans 23 classrooms

A €6.64 million language school is taking shape at the sa Coma complex in Eivissa, Ibiza, with 23 classrooms planned across two refurbished buildings. Education and Universities Minister Antoni Vera inspected the work on 24 September. The Balearic Government is paying for the project, while the Consell is carrying out the building work.

The Escuela Oficial de Idiomas (EOI), a public language school, will take over pavilions 206 and 207. It is intended to give the island larger, more modern spaces for language teaching.

Two buildings for six language departments

The school will use the ground, first and second floors of both buildings, covering 3,902.87 square metres. Plans also include three multi-purpose classrooms, an exhibition room, study spaces, a library and a multimedia room.

There will be space for six teaching departments: Catalan, Castilian, Italian, French, Spanish and English, as well as an administrative area. Vera said the new site would better suit the needs of pupils and the teaching and administrative staff.

School leaders briefed on works and support

Before the site visit, Vera met heads of public nursery, primary, secondary and special-regime schools on Ibiza. They discussed work completed over the summer, projects still under way, new school dining rooms across the Pitiusas and the protocol for possible DANAs.

The heads were also told about a new travelling team of three psychologists from the ministry. Every primary school in Eivissa and Formentera will be able to request its help.
