Jesús traffic trial: opposition demands key documents
The traffic trial in Jesús, Ibiza, faces renewed pressure on 11 September as the Socialist Group of Santa Eulària and Unidas Podemos demand an urgent meeting on how it is going. They want to see the documents, studies and criteria used to launch the scheme and judge it afterwards.
The PSOE says it does not oppose examining pedestrianisation in the centre of Jesús. But it argues that any move must form part of an overall traffic plan and involve local people.
The party says the Town Hall plans to draw up technical reports and its assessment after the pilot ends. It is therefore asking what studies, reports or technical grounds were used to decide on the trial and its new routes in the first place.
The PSOE also wants the municipal government to explain how it will stop traffic from simply being pushed into other streets if the centre is pedestrianised. It has called for a response to its request to convene the Mobility Commission and for all available paperwork to be released.
