Ma-1 crash leaves mother in intensive care

A mother remains in intensive care at Son Espases Hospital in Palma, Mallorca, after a car hit her and her daughter as they rode electric bikes on the Ma-1 on Saturday. Her condition is guarded. Her daughter is under observation in the emergency department.

The crash happened at about 13.10 at kilometre four of the Ma-1, the road linking Palma and Andratx. SAMU 061 said the car appears to have struck both cyclists from behind.

Both women suffered injuries to different parts of their bodies. Two advanced life-support ambulances, a logistics vehicle and a Delta vehicle attended. Medics treated them at the scene, and one of the women needed intubation before both were taken to Son Espases Hospital.
