Mallorca ferries: Palma bookings fall as Menorca soars
Palma, Mallorca–Barcelona ferry bookings fell 4.41% between June and August 2026, even as the Balearic Islands remained Spain’s leading ferry destination.
The sharpest change came on the Barcelona–Ciutadella crossing to Menorca. Reservations rose 204.26% on the previous summer, making it Spain’s most-booked domestic ferry route of the season, according to Ferryscanner.
Across the main Balearic routes, bookings grew 49.6%. Spanish travellers made 18.4% more ferry reservations overall than in the same three months of 2025.
Formentera–Dénia bookings climbed 154.84%, while Dénia–Ibiza rose 75.44%. The Ibiza–Barcelona route moved the other way, dropping 28.21%.
Barcelona–Alicante also emerged as a route to watch after reservations multiplied eightfold from a near-zero base in summer 2025.
More than half of Barcelona–Ciutadella bookings included a private vehicle. Across all routes, reservations with a vehicle were up 17.85% on summer 2025.
Ferryscanner managing director Philipp Brinkmann said the figures showed travellers were increasingly planning flexible breaks, combining destinations and seeking freedom to travel once they arrived.
