Mallorca: Meliá adds 171-room Cala Millor beach hotel

Mallorca’s Cala Millor gets another Meliá hotel: the group has added a 171-room beachfront property beside the protected Punta de n’Amer area. The addition took effect on 1 November, Meliá Hotels International said. The hotel has direct access to the beach.

The property will operate under the Meliá Hotels & Resorts brand. It has a restaurant, two bars, a gym and a spa. Work to bring it into line with the brand’s standards began after the addition took effect.

The deal is set to bring Meliá’s total on Mallorca to 29 hotels. The company opened its first hotel on the island 70 years ago. Chairman and chief executive Gabriel Escarrer called Mallorca the company’s home and said adding the Cala Millor hotel was a way to keep investing in its roots.
