Palma road closures: motorbike ride diverts buses
Palma, Mallorca, faces road closures and bus diversions on Saturday as Diada de Mallorca events and a night motorbike ride change key routes. Palma Local Police and EMT Palma have set special traffic measures across the city. The exit from Parc de la Mar car park towards the motorway will also close during the restrictions.
Central Palma streets close at set times
Traffic towards Plaça de Santa Eulària will be stopped from 10.00 to 11.30. The uphill stretch of Calle Conqueridor from Plaça de la Reina will then close from 11.00 to 12.00.
Calle Unió will shut in both directions from 18.00 to 19.00, Palma City Council said.
Ma-19 traffic and EMT buses rerouted
From 16.30, traffic arriving from the Ma-19 motorway will be sent towards Avenidas because of the Vuelta nocturna a Mallorca en moto. Traffic travelling downhill from Avenidas will instead be directed to the motorway.
The motorbike riders set off towards Andratx at 20.00 and turn around near the Customs building. Traffic restrictions are expected to ease progressively after that.
EMT line 25, between s’Arenal and Plaça de la Reina/Catedral, will use Avenidas and miss stop 1982. It is expected to return to its usual route at about 20.00.
Line 30, linking Marivent and Palau de Congressos, will not run until the following day. From 18.00 for about an hour, lines 3, 4, 7, 20, 25 and 35 will also be diverted, with stops 1048, 53, 105, 104, 54, 52, 106, 107, 50 and 108 out of service while the diversions last.
