Pa amb oli tasting opens Mallorca food science series

Responsible for this content: Frank Menze

Palma, Mallorca, hosts a pa amb oli tasting on Thursday as the University of the Balearic Islands opens a series pairing food with science. Researcher José M. Escalona and baker Maties Miralles of Es Forn des Pla de na Tesa will take part in the first session. The university is organising the series, called Tasts Científics, with Chefs(in).

At each meeting, a university researcher will discuss a product’s nutritional properties, benefits or history. A cook will then prepare something, and those attending will be able to taste the products presented.

The sessions will last about two hours and take place on Thursdays in October in a Palma teaching kitchen equipped for cooking demonstrations. After pa amb oli, the series turns to chocolate, then cheese, and finally the Mediterranean diet.
