Palma Intermodal gets new help desk as travel grows

Responsible for this content: Frank Menze

Mallorca’s Palma Intermodal station has a new passenger help desk after handling 16.5 million passengers in 2025. It brings travel advice into one office and gives Tarjeta Única card applications a separate room. The Balearic Ministry of Housing, Territory and Mobility announced the opening on Wednesday, 28 October 2026.

A separate room for travel cards

Passengers can ask for information and help at service windows and an adapted counter. The new room for issuing Tarjeta Única cards has an air-conditioned waiting area. A queue-management system with a machine adapted for people with visual impairments is due in the coming weeks.

Hearing loops are also in place to help staff communicate with people who use hearing aids or cochlear implants. The office handles face-to-face enquiries about public transport between Mallorca’s towns, as well as telephone enquiries for TIB, the island’s interurban transport service.

More work at the station

The help desk is part of Palma Intermodal’s first major refurbishment since it opened in 2007. Passenger numbers have climbed from 5.8 million in 2019 to 16.5 million in 2025. The office cost €150,498.

Escalators have already been renewed, while new information screens and fans have been installed at the bus bays. Work on the toilets continues, and a new bicycle parking area is planned.
