Ibiza starts work on 109 parking spaces in Sant Rafel
109 new parking spaces in Sant Rafel, Ibiza: work is under way beside the Pep Negre children’s playground on 7 November 2026. Sant Antoni de Portmany Town Council is building an open-air public car park and improving the surrounding area. The work is expected to take five months.
Four spaces will be reserved for people with reduced mobility, and five charging points will serve electric vehicles. The council awarded the 1.7 million euro contract to Vilor Infraestructures. The site lies between the church and the road to Santa Eulària, near the cemetery and village centre. The council says the changes will organise parking and make it safer and easier for people to get around.
The existing path will be repaired to remove potholes and uneven patches. Accessible pedestrian paths at least 1.80 metres wide will link the reserved spaces to existing routes. Plans also include a surface that lets rainwater drain through, a new connection to the municipal rainwater network, a stone-faced wall, lighting, street furniture and planting. The work covers about 3,341 square metres of a 7,520-square-metre council-owned site.
