Perfume theft driver drags worker in Marratxí

A driver dragged a perfume shop worker several metres along the asphalt in Marratxí, Mallorca, on 30 August after a €600 theft. She was left injured on the ground as the car sped away. The Guardia Civil has arrested the driver, and a judge has ordered him held in prison.

Police say a woman left the shop without paying for several perfumes. An employee followed her to the car park, where a vehicle driven by the arrested man was waiting.

As the employee tried to stop the woman leaving, a struggle broke out. The driver then pulled away, dragging the worker along the road.

Witness avoids fleeing car

The people in the vehicle fled at high speed. A witness tried to stop them but had to move out of the way to avoid being hit.

The Guardia Civil's Pont d'Inca investigation unit traced those involved. Officers say the woman has been fully identified and is expected to be arrested in the coming days.

Police attribute two robbery offences involving violence and intimidation to the woman. They say the first happened in July at another shop in the same shopping complex.
