Palma roadworks limit access to residents

Only residents will be allowed into affected streets in es Molinar and es Portixol, Palma, during working hours from Wednesday as resurfacing begins. The restrictions apply while municipal utility Emaya restores roads after water and sewer network work. Palma City Council expects the €1.63 million project to finish on 1 October.

The resurfacing phase covers Llorenç Campins, Joan Nicolau i Barceló, Son Fleixes, Manuel Bordoy, Sant Tomàs Aquino, Aurora Picornell, Cortecera, Timó, Ventada and Santueri. Access will be coordinated as work progresses.

Emaya has built a new main drinking-water pipe between Club Náutico del Portixol and Torrent Gros, where it joins an existing pipe in Nou Llevant. The new infrastructure will serve Portixol and es Molinar.

The utility has also renewed parts of the area's drinking-water distribution and sewer networks. Work will then move to the carretera de Llucmajor, where Emaya plans to renew the drinking-water network and part of the sewer system, alongside other local repairs.
