Mallorca railway museum turns one: five days of events
Mallorca’s railway museum in Son Carrió marks its first birthday with five days of events starting Wednesday, 4 November. It has logged 9,603 attendance records since opening in November 2025, counting both museum visits and participation in activities. The regional Ministry of Housing, Territory and Mobility says the programme runs until Sunday.
The museum occupies former railway premises and displays vehicles and other pieces from the island’s rail history. It was set up by Serveis Ferroviaris de Mallorca.
Tours, a film and a soap workshop
Wednesday’s opening event, at 19.00, pairs a guided tour with a sensory workshop for adults featuring wine, carob, almonds, soap and salt. It explores how the railway carried goods and supported agriculture, crafts and industry on Mallorca.
At 19.00 on Thursday, the museum screens La escuela de los trenes, a documentary about the experience of CEIP Sant Miquel de Son Carrió in the premises the museum now uses. Teachers and pupils will discuss the film afterwards. A soap-making workshop with S’Arrel de Mallorca follows at 16.00 on Friday. It costs 20 euros and places are limited.
Saturday’s fair and Sunday’s ride
A parade from Sant Miquel church to the museum starts Saturday’s events at 10.00. A local produce fair opens at the Son Carrió station at the same time and runs until 18.00. Guided tours are scheduled for 11.30, 13.00 and 16.00, with live music from 16.30.
The celebrations end on Sunday with a guided family bike ride at 11.00. It follows part of the former Manacor–Artà railway line and takes in surviving traces of its history. For activities requiring advance registration, the museum gives the address info@museuferrocarrilsfm.org.
