Palma roadworks limit Portixol access

Daytime access to streets in Palma’s Portixol and Es Molinar is now limited to local residents as resurfacing work begins on Wednesday, 16 September. Emaya is laying new asphalt after completing water and sewer network work in the area. Palma Council expects the paving to finish on 1 October.

The €1.63 million project covers Llorenç Campins, Joan Nicolau i Barceló, Son Fleixes, Manuel Bordoy, Sant Tomàs Aquino, Aurora Picornell, Cortecera, Timó, Ventada and Santueri. Emaya will coordinate vehicle access according to how work progresses.

New water pipe feeds both neighbourhoods

Before the resurfacing begins, the public company built a new main drinking-water pipe between Portixol Yacht Club and Torrent Gros. It connects to the existing main in Nou Llevant and will supply Portixol and Es Molinar.

Emaya has also renewed part of the area’s drinking-water distribution network and sewer system. Once the affected streets have been resurfaced, work will move on to the drinking-water network and part of the sewer system on the Carretera de Llucmajor, alongside other local network renewals.
