Mallorca rubbish bills: sa Pobla plans cuts of up to 6%
In sa Pobla, Mallorca, an annual household rubbish bill could fall from 187.09 euros to 179.29 euros in 2027: the council plans cuts for homes and shops in its waste-check programme. The council has provisionally approved the changes, which would reduce some bills by up to 6%.
Who would pay less
Homes taking part in the Inspección Técnica de Residuos (ITR) waste-check programme would see their annual bill fall by 4.17%. For homes on rural land, it would drop from 101.24 to 97.34 euros, a cut of 3.85%.
Non-food shops would pay 378.21 euros instead of 401.78 euros, a reduction of 5.87%. Clothes and shoe shops would pay 368.98 euros instead of 392.55 euros, a 6% cut. The council says the changes are intended to encourage door-to-door collection and better sorting of waste, which it says improves recycling.
A separate bonus, with a deadline
Households could also qualify for a 5% reduction on the domestic rubbish collection charge, whether or not they take part in ITR. They must use the council’s waste buckets correctly on at least 75 days during the year and put the right waste in each category. Days when general waste is collected do not count. Applications must be made before 28 February.
Families that meet the income requirements could receive a 100% reduction, depending on their income and the number of people in the household.
The proposed changes will be open for public comment for 30 working days. If nobody objects, they will become final and can take effect from 1 January 2027 once published in the Official Gazette of the Balearic Islands.
