In sa Pobla, Mallorca, €60,000 meant for social services and a day centre is at the centre of a funding row. The People’s Party says the council is putting €50,000 towards local festivals and €10,000 towards the lifeguard service. The party made the allegation in a statement on 6 October 2026.

The party says the day centre faces cuts of €28,000 for staff and €10,000 for social security contributions. It says the centre helps people and families who need support from the council.

The People’s Party says it does not object to funding festivals or lifeguards. It objects to taking the money from social care, and says any cut to the day centre should be properly justified. The council should plan spending earlier and set clearer priorities, it adds.
