Mallorca Grand Prix marks 20 years at Son Pardo

The Mallorca Grand Prix marks its 20th anniversary at Hipódromo Son Pardo in Palma, Mallorca, this Saturday. The Chapeau, sa Roqueta event runs from 11.00 to 17.30, pairing trotting races with fashion, local food, music and children’s activities.

The Mallorca Institute of Equestrian Sport presented the programme on Wednesday. The Grand Prix des Baleares Eqwin leads the racing card, alongside the Premi Société TF, Critèrium Nacional and Premi Aniversari FBT.

Pedro Bestard, vice-president of the Council of Mallorca and councillor for Environment, Rural Affairs and Sport, said the event aims to bring new audiences to Son Pardo while keeping trotting at its centre. Gaspar Oliver, president of the Mallorca Institute of Equestrian Sport, and Juan Antonio Rosselló Comas, president of the Balearic Trotting Federation, also attended the presentation.

Fashion, music and horse shows

A fashion show, tastings of local products, children’s games and entertainment, and horse shows are also planned. The entrance hall will host an exhibition of art, crafts and fashion.

DJs Antto Cabanellas and Biel Castell Cladera will provide the music. A style competition will award prizes to the most elegant and original woman, the most elegant man and the most original man.
