Mallorca buses add trips despite winter timetable

Responsible for this content: Frank Menze

Mallorca’s TIB buses switch to winter timetables on Sunday, 1 November, but several routes gain trips and the Port d’Andratx–Palma service gets bigger vehicles. The Balearic Ministry of Housing, Territory and Mobility says the extra November services respond to travel needs. Timetables are due to change again in December to match winter demand.

More buses towards Palma

Two 18-metre articulated buses, each with 75 seats, replace the 12-metre vehicles on route 101 between Port d’Andratx and Palma.

Routes 102 from Peguera, 103 from Santa Ponça and 104 from Magaluf also offer more trips to Palma this November than they did a year ago. Route 102 gains 16 per cent more weekday journeys and a Sunday departure from Palma at 06.50. Route 103 gains nearly 20 per cent more services, including trips from Costa de la Calma and Palma, a Sunday departure from Palma at 06.55 and a final journey from Santa Ponça at 23.20. Route 104 has 42 per cent more departures from Magaluf and 38.5 per cent more from Palma.

A new stop and extra mountain services

Route 106 between El Toro and Palma adds a stop at Camí Cala Figuera, serving Sa Porrassa. Calvià Council requested the stop.

In the Serra de Tramuntana, route 203 through Valldemossa, Deià and Port de Sóller keeps its summer timetable for November. From Valldemossa, it gains seven weekday trips towards Palma and six towards Port de Sóller. At weekends, it gains five and seven respectively, bringing the overall increase to 40 per cent. Route 517, linking Santanyí, Colònia de Sant Jordi and Campos, will continue serving Cala Llombards throughout winter.

Timetable changes for school journeys

Route 401 journeys passing through Manacor at around 14.30 and 15.20 will go via Algaida, making the return trip easier for pupils at Mossèn Alcover and IES Manacor. Route 504 makes small timetable changes for journeys between s’Arenal de Llucmajor and the coastal developments.

The airport routes A43 from Manacor and A33 from Port d’Alcúdia also adjust their midday times. The changes aim to help pupils at IES Manacor and IES Berenguer d’Anoia in Inca, while easing pressure on routes 302 and 401.
