Mallorca rally crash kills driver, injures co-driver

A 63-year-old German driver dies in a Mallorca rally crash on the Ma-10 near Mortitx, Mallorca, on Friday, 9 October. His 39-year-old German co-driver is taken to hospital with spinal cord injuries. The pair are taking part in the 550 Rally Challenge de Mallorca. The crash happens on Friday afternoon at kilometre 10, heading towards Lluc from Pollença, Spain’s Civil Guard says.

The Civil Guard’s judicial police unit in Inca has opened an investigation into how the crash happened. Jaume Bauzá, the Balearic government’s tourism, culture and sports minister, sent condolences to the driver’s family and friends in a post on X on Friday afternoon. He also wished the injured co-driver a recovery.
