Climate in Cala Mesquida — Unspoiled Cove on the Open Northeast Coast
Cala Mesquida is one of the few largely untouched bays on Mallorca's northeast coast: no hotel strip, just dunes, a wide sandy beach, and an open exposure to the northwest. That setting shapes the weather experience directly: the cove is rougher than the more southerly bays of the Capdepera municipality when northwest and north winds blow.
Rainfall follows the pattern of the broader Capdepera region. According to aggregator climate data, the annual average is around 586 mm — more than AEMET's figure for Palma of roughly 470 mm. November is the wettest month, with around 104 mm.
Summers are warm and very dry. July daytime highs sit at around 29°C according to aggregator data, with a daily average of around 25°C. Rain in July barely reaches 8 mm. The open position also means at times considerable swell under a northeast wind — the cove is well known for variable conditions that attract surfers but call for caution among swimmers when winds are strong.
Sea temperatures reach around 25°C in July and around 26°C in August, with roughly 23°C still in October.
Winter: the January daily average is around 12°C. The cove is quieter still in the winter months.
For broader climate context, see the Mallorca Climate Chart.
Note on data sources: Cala Mesquida has no weather station of its own. Values are derived from Capdepera (~6 km away).
