Aima Quartet wins €3,000 at Art Jove in Maó

€3,000 in cash, plus another €3,000 for two performances: Aima Quartet wins the Art Jove chamber music prize at the Teatro Principal in Maó, Balearic Islands, on Saturday. The saxophone quartet plays works by Lago, Xenakis and Mendelssohn in the final of the 2026 competition for young performers. The Institut Balear de la Joventut, the Balearic Youth Institute, organises the contest.

Izan Blasco Espert, Aitor Martín Yubero, Mariano López García and Ainhoa Valiño Valiño make up the winning quartet. Maria Magdalena Tugores Moncadas and Paula Riera Bergas take second prize and €2,000. Third prize and €1,000 go to Marc Laliga Simón and Maria del Mar Vives Ferrer.

Saxophonist José Miguel Ortiz Solivelles also performs, outside the competition. He won the soloists’ prize in 2025. Art Jove is open to artists aged 16 to 35 who were born in or live in the Balearic Islands.
