Balearic acts secure two Fira Mediterrània slots
At least two Balearic companies will take the official stage at the Fira Mediterrània in Manresa under a new four-year deal. The agreement, announced on 26 August, links the Balearic Government’s Directorate-General for Culture with the Fundació Mediterrània. It is designed to give the islands’ living cultural heritage a wider audience beyond the archipelago.
The Fira Mediterrània brings together music, dance, performing arts and popular culture shaped by intangible cultural heritage. Each year, programmers, distributors, creators and other cultural professionals from across Spain and abroad attend the Manresa event.
The foundation has agreed to include at least two companies from the Balearic Islands in the fair’s official programme. The Directorate-General for Culture will back companies and professionals chosen by the fair’s artistic team, covering travel costs and part of their performance fee.
It will also promote both the fair and the Balearic participants. Culture director-general Llorenç Perelló said the deal would give creators, companies and cultural groups fresh chances to show their work outside the islands, while helping preserve and share a heritage that remains alive through its creators.
