600 pupils hear live Balearic Symphony music in Formentera

Around 600 schoolchildren in Formentera have heard live music at two performances by a chamber group from the Balearic Symphony Orchestra. A string quartet and mezzo-soprano Laura de la Fuente played at the Sala de Cultura de Formentera cultural hall.

The programme mixed singing and instrumental pieces from different periods, styles and musical traditions. It included El cant de la Sibil·la, El barberillo de Lavapiés and the popular piece Roqueta, sa meva Roca.

The Balearic Government's Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sports said the sessions brought live music closer to pupils on the island. On Tuesday, the same quartet and de la Fuente performed the programme again in a public concert at the hall, marking the European Day of Languages.

Across two consecutive days, the orchestra combined its public performance with school sessions in Formentera.
