Mallorca Architecture Week: water route, film, tribute
Mallorca’s Architecture Week brings a water-themed route, a courtyard film screening and a tribute to the late architect Xisco Pizà from 4 to 10 October. The Official College of Architects of the Balearic Islands has organised the programme in Palma, Mallorca, and beyond. It says the events aim to bring people together and make Mallorca’s architecture better known.
Water, houses and a film
The programme begins on 5 October with the opening of a virtual exhibition, La memòria dels casals de Palma, at the college’s library in Palma. On 6 October, archaeologists Jaume Deyà and Plàcid Pérez lead Arquitectura de s’aigo Al-Mayurqa, a route exploring how water shaped towns in the Andalusi world.
The college screens Stéphane Demoustier’s film Architecte in the courtyard of its headquarters on 7 October. The following day, Carlos García Delgado gives a talk on the historical origins of the Mallorcan house with three openings.
A tribute and a final tour
On Friday, the programme honours Xisco Pizà. It also includes a visit to Casal Balaguer and a talk called Entrades de llum.
The week ends on 10 October with a tour of award-winning buildings: the Escoleta de Muro in Muro, Mallorca; the Casa Colònia de Sant Pere in Colònia de Sant Pere, Mallorca; and the Bodega Alaró in Alaró, Mallorca.
