Palma short film takes €3,000 in ArtJove contest

Amaro Seoane Soler has won the €3,000 top prize in Palma’s ArtJove short film contest with Vida Injusta. The awards were presented on Friday evening, 26 September, at Baluard de Sant Pere in Palma. The Balearic Youth Institute, IbJove, which runs the contest, will also provide €7,000 to finance Seoane Soler’s new short film.

Seven finalists’ films were screened at the event, attended by IbJove director Tomàs Amer. Entries had to be made by people aged 16 to 35 who were born in the Balearic Islands and/or live there.

Other films recognised

La Barraca, by Júlia Castaño Rodríguez, took second place and €2,000. Third prize, worth €1,000, went to En aquesta illa de sal by Silvia Clapés Torres and Javier Ramírez Fernández de Maruri.

Ariadna Fortuny Cardona’s Santa Eulàlia received a special mention. The other finalists were Si l'amor no és això, que m'assassinin by Àlex Arroyo, Vampir 66 by Oscar Ruíz Peralta, and Urtajo by Miquel Àngel Marques Bordoy.

Film and media figures on the jury

The jury included creator, actor and director Bárbara Hermosilla, and Helher Escribano, director of the Ibiza Film Festival, Ibicine. Director, screenwriter and producer Lluís Ortas Pau, audiovisual professional Ruth T. Quintas, and producer and media executive Juan Carlos Martorell Velásquez also served.

They were joined by filmmaker Josep Alorda Roca, who won ArtJove’s top short film prize in 2024.
