Across the Balearic Islands, including Mallorca, people make an average of 1.47 cinema visits a year, among the highest rates in Spain. But they listen to radio for just 78 minutes a day, the lowest figure of any Spanish region. Both figures cover 2025 and appear in a yearbook released by the SGAE Foundation on Thursday, 15 October 2026.

Cinema draws more trips than in most regions

The islands’ cinemas sold 1.8 million tickets in 2025 and took €12.1 million. Only Madrid, at 1.98 visits per person, and the Basque Country, at 1.48, ranked higher. Catalonia matched the Balearic figure of 1.47.

Television time was low too. People in the Balearic Islands watched for an average of 137 minutes a day, according to figures from Kantar Media used in the yearbook. Navarre recorded 138 minutes and Madrid 139. For radio, Extremadura was the next lowest region after the Balearics, at 82 minutes a day.

Pop-rock dominates live music

The Balearic Islands hosted 8,028 popular music shows in 2025, drawing 597,470 people. Pop-rock accounted for 88.2% of those shows, nearly ten percentage points above the national average.

The yearbook also counted 466 classical concerts with 76,617 attendees. In the performing arts, it recorded 658 shows attended by 85,914 people. Theatre made up most of that programme, with 614 performances.
