Mallorca film festival opens with ‘Club Kid’ on 28 October
On Mallorca, Spain, the 15th Evolution Mallorca International Film Festival opens on 28 October 2026 with ‘Club Kid’: a film about a New York club promoter whose ten-year-old son turns up unexpectedly. Organisers say screenings will take place at venues across the island until 4 November. ‘The end of it’, starring Rebecca Hall, will close the festival.
A surprise son and a closing-night award
Jordan Firstman directs and stars in ‘Club Kid’ alongside Cara Delevingne and Diego Calva. The film premiered at Cannes before showing in Toronto, New York and San Sebastián.
The closing film is Spanish director María Martínez Bayona’s first feature. Mallorca costume designer Pau Aulí will introduce it and receive the Evolution New Talent Award at the closing gala.
Shorts and a drive-in before the festival
The international short-film competition includes ‘THEY’, Renée Zellweger’s first film as a director, and Michael Keaton’s short ‘Sweetwater’.
Before the festival begins, the drive-in cinema Cine con Coche runs on 23 and 24 October. Backed by Port Adriano, it will show ‘La La Land’, ‘Moulin Rouge!’, ‘Happy Feet’ and ‘A Star Is Born’. Calvià Town Council supports the event with funding from the Sustainable Tourism Tax.
