Mallorca: Concierto de Aranjuez live in Palma
In Palma, Mallorca, the Balearic Symphony Orchestra plays Joaquín Rodrigo’s Concierto de Aranjuez on 5 November 2026: José María Gallardo del Rey takes the guitar part at the Auditorium de Palma. The concert starts at 20.00, with Gianna Fratta conducting. It is the second concert in the orchestra’s 2026–2027 subscription season.
The Department of Tourism, Culture and Sport says Rodrigo’s concerto, first performed in 1940, is the centrepiece of the programme. Its best-known section is the second movement, the Adagio. Gallardo del Rey also plays his own composition, Diamantes para Aranjuez. The orchestra’s programme includes Maurice Ravel’s Alborada del gracioso and Isaac Albéniz’s Suite española.
The orchestra plays the programme again the next day at 19.30 in the auditorium in Manacor, Mallorca. Tickets are on sale through the orchestra’s website and at the Auditorium de Palma box office.
