Mallorca honours Diane Kruger as she recalls Troy doubts
In Palma, Mallorca, Diane Kruger accepts a film award on Sunday, 1 November — and recalls a time when she feared she would never make another film. At the Cine Rívoli, the actor receives the Evolution Icon Award from the Evolution Mallorca International Film Festival. Its director, Sandra Lipski, presents the prize before the two discuss Kruger’s career.
Kruger says she wanted to act from childhood and later studied at a drama school in Paris. Troy was a leap into a production bigger than any she had worked on before. It made her famous almost overnight, but the criticism was hard to take. She says she thought she would never make anything else.
Accepting the award, Kruger says her purpose in life is to tell stories. She also thanks the people who have helped her career and says festivals give her a chance to talk with audiences.
The festival’s 15th edition began on 28 October and continues into November. It features more than 140 films and documentaries chosen from over 1,500 submissions from 50 countries, alongside events for film professionals and meetings with filmmakers.
