Palma museum to show Plessi’s final Digital Splash

A large video installation and drawings centred on water are heading to the Museo de Mallorca in Palma. The work, Digital Splash, is the last project Italian artist Fabrizio Plessi developed before his death. The Consell de Mallorca and Es Baluard presented the planned exhibition on Monday, 14 September.

Water, images and artificial intelligence

The installation uses digital technology and artificial intelligence to create what the Consell describes as a space in constant change. It explores the link between nature and technology, and how new digital tools can alter the way reality is seen.

Repetition, movement, material and image shape the work. The accompanying drawings offer a view of Plessi’s creative process and continue his exploration of the natural world and technology.

Part of Mallorca’s cultural programme

Digital Splash forms part of Biennal B and will join the cultural programmes for the Diada de Mallorca and Nit de l’Art. Consell president Llorenç Galmés said bringing Plessi’s final project to the Museo de Mallorca gives it added meaning while linking contemporary creation, technology and the island’s heritage.

Plessi was born in Reggio Emilia in 1940 and died in Venice in 2026. A pioneer of video art and installations, he had explored nature, technology, water and fire in his work since the late 1970s.
