Responsible for this content: Frank Menze

Mallorca gets the full 50-minute ‘Entre Feldman’ on 14 November 2026: El Niño de Elche performs at the Auditòrium de Palma in Palma, Mallorca, with 13 musicians from the Orquestra Simfònica de Balears and artist Albert Pinya. Audiences in Coruña and Madrid previously heard only 25 minutes of the piece. The Festival of Experimental Arts and Advanced Music (ME_MMIX) says it will make an audiovisual recording of the Palma performance.

The idea behind the music

The show draws on writings by American composer Morton Feldman, whose birth centenary falls in 2026. Feldman was known for unusually long, static pieces that broke with conventional musical storytelling. His writings brought El Niño de Elche and composer Héctor Cavallaro together on this project. Christian Karlsen will direct the music.

More music across Palma

ME_MMIX runs from 12 to 22 November 2026 at venues across Palma. Irvine Arditti will perform at the opening concert, while Austrian group Ensemble Phace will bring the film concert ‘La ciudad sin judíos’ to the Teatre Principal de Palma. Joan Miquel Oliver and Joana Gomila are also on the bill. The festival is putting greater emphasis on electronic music this year, with composer Franck Vigroux among those confirmed.
