This production uses the original version, first performed in Paris in 1859, with spoken dialogue in French. The Council of Mallorca says that sets it apart from later versions. Faust was last performed at the Palma theatre in 2009.

Christian Lacroix designed the costumes and Éric Ruf the sets. Sunnyboy Dladla sings Faust, Verónica Granatiero plays Marguerite and Mallorcan singer Begoña Gómez plays Siebel. Alejandro Cantalapiedra conducts, with the theatre’s choir and the Balearic Symphony Orchestra also taking part.
