Festival Intercéltico d'Occidente welcomes Sóller group

The Festival Intercéltico d'Occidente has concluded its XXIX edition in Tapia de Casariego, Asturias, Spain, with Xeremíes de Sóller representing the Balearic Islands. Organisers said the 2026 event drew capacity crowds across all its venues and brought Celtic culture to the town and surrounding area.

The programme included evening concerts, street parades, the traditional harbour verbena, cultural talks, workshops and performances at venues around the town.

Alongside the Sóller group, the festival hosted performers from Brittany, Scotland, Ireland, Galicia and Asturias. Participants included Bagad Arvorizion Karnag, David Pasquet, Milgavie Pipe Band, The Galway School of Irish Dancing, Backwest, Banda de Gaitas Donaire and Grupo de Danza Donaire.

Organisers thanked the groups, bands, schools and soloists involved, while highlighting the festival's role in the local economy of Tapia de Casariego and north-western Asturias. They cited support from Tapia de Casariego Town Council and the Ministry of Culture of the Principality of Asturias, which helps ensure the event can be held safely. The festival is recognised as a Regional Tourist Interest Festival.

Work is now under way on a special programme for the festival's XXX anniversary.
