FIET theatre festival shifts to October with 40 shows

More than 40 theatre shows are planned for the Balearic Islands after FIET moved its 24th edition to 21–25 October. The Fira de Teatre Infantil i Juvenil de Balears, a theatre fair for children and young people, will now run on the fourth weekend of October. First tickets go on sale on 1 October, organisers said on Friday.

Tickets and a broader programme

The full programme will be published on the FIET website, where people can also make donations to obtain tickets for individual performances. The line-up includes a number of recently premiered productions.

FIET has strengthened its offer for young people aged 12 and over. It will also stage more performances for early-years children aged from 0 to 6.

Volunteers and a tribute to Joan Alcover

A local volunteer network will support the fair by offering accommodation to artists and accredited professionals, as well as helping the public. Registration for volunteers is already open.

This year's promotional material will carry the slogans “Beneïda l'hora que m'ha duit aquí” and “Jo bé volar voldria pels horitzons de l'art”. The lines by Mallorcan poet Joan Alcover form part of events marking the centenary of his death.
