Mallorca’s Fira B! draws nearly 4,000 people to Palma, where many performances sell out. From 30 September to 3 October, the festival puts on more than 30 theatre, dance, circus and other performances. The Balearic Department of Tourism, Culture and Sport reported the figures on Monday.

Shows sell out across Palma

The four-day programme takes in theatres and cultural venues across the city, including the Teatre Principal de Palma, the basilica of Sant Francesc and Es Baluard Museu. Companies from the Balearic Islands, elsewhere in Spain and abroad take part.

Some performances offer support for people with hearing or visual impairments. At L’arquitecte and Bachata, audience members could use amplified sound through headphones. Retaule en dues parts offered live audio description for blind audience members.

Theatre professionals meet

Away from the performances, nearly 300 theatre and dance professionals attend the festival’s industry programme. They hold 86 short meetings aimed at building contacts and securing bookings. Participants include representatives of 26 fairs and festivals and 23 theatres and venues.
