Mallorca art hits Madrid: 26 Forteza works on show
Twenty-six paintings and sculptures by Javier and Rafa Forteza are on show at CaixaForum Madrid. The exhibition, Rumores infundados, first appeared at CaixaForum Palma in September 2025. It was curated by Es Baluard director David Barro.
Javier Forteza has 17 works in the show, while Rafa Forteza has nine. Although the two artists use different visual languages and processes, Es Baluard says their work shares a pull towards mystery, ambiguity and what remains outside the picture.
Barro said the exhibition grows from a sustained partnership between Es Baluard and Fundación La Caixa, aimed at supporting artistic creation and opening new spaces for contemporary art. Taking a project first shown in Palma to Madrid broadens its reach, he said, while bringing the work of two artists closely linked to Mallorca to new audiences.
For Es Baluard, the collaboration is also a way to take its view of the two artists beyond Mallorca and strengthen ties with other cultural institutions.
