Responsible for this content: Frank Menze

Mallorca has two free church concerts next week, but seats must be reserved in advance. Grammy-nominated Norwegian group Trio Medieval sings in Santa Creu church in Palma, Mallorca, on Tuesday at 19.30. The second performance is at Santa Maria de Robines church in Binissalem, Mallorca, on Wednesday at 20.00, according to the Estudi General Lul·lià.

Both concerts feature Lux in Tenebris, a contemporary mass by Greek composer Christos Barbas. He plays the ney, a reed flute from the Middle East, alongside Trio Medieval’s three female voices. The piece draws on passages from Ramon Llull’s Llibre d’Amic i Amat and won the Laboratori Llull’s first international grant for artistic creation and residency.

The concerts are organised with the Balearic Government, the Council of Mallorca, Binissalem Town Council and the two parishes. Admission is free with an advance seat reservation.
