Mallorca director wins two awards for 'Gamberra'
Mallorca-born director Marine Auclair wins two awards for her short film ‘Gamberra’ at a festival in Toledo, Spain, held from 2 to 11 October. The International Social Film Festival of Castilla-La Mancha (Feciso) names it best short film and gives Auclair its young director prize.
The film follows Marta, a young woman living in a religious, conservative student residence who needs the morning-after pill. Around her, female sexuality remains a taboo.
‘Gamberra’ is Auclair’s second short film. Born on Mallorca in 2001, she studied at the School of Cinema and Audiovisuals of Catalonia (Escac). The film had its world premiere at SXSW in Austin, Texas, in March 2026 and also won the Danzante Prize in the Ibero-American section of the Huesca International Film Festival this year.
Feciso’s run in Toledo is over, but the festival continues through other parts of Castilla-La Mancha until January.
