Eight Mallorca musicians play two concerts in Belgium

Eight music students from Inca, Mallorca, are rehearsing in Vilvoorde, Belgium, before two public concerts on Friday and Saturday. They are among 33 musicians from Spain, Belgium, Italy, Germany and France taking part in the European Rotary Youth Orchestra 2026 from 24 to 29 August.

The Inca group includes violinists Victoria Fresnillo, Marta Minaya, Júlia Ramón, Alba Lorenzo and Carla Ramón; oboist Caterina Fresnillo; flautist Marina Manresa; and clarinettist Elena Serrano. All study professional-level music at the Antoni Torrandell Conservatory in Inca.

Italian conductor Ernesto Leo is leading the orchestra rehearsals. The programme brings together classical works, film scores, popular orchestral pieces and compositions by Leo.

Alongside rehearsals, the musicians are visiting Vilvoorde, joining leisure activities including climbing, and staying with local families. Rotary Club Palma Almudaina supported the Mallorca delegation’s trip.

The first concert is free and takes place outdoors in Vilvoorde’s Grote Markt at 19.00 on Friday. The closing concert follows at 20.00 on Saturday at Cultureel Centrum Het Bolwerk, where tickets cost 15 euros. Money raised from the final performance will go to social and local projects.
