Mallorca’s MajorDocs cancels 11 November screenings

Mallorca’s MajorDocs film festival is cancelling every screening planned for 11 November in Palma, Mallorca: a scheduled general strike has forced a change of plans. The festival is also bringing its opening forward. Its eighth edition runs from 9 to 14 November.

MajorDocs says the programme includes eight documentaries from countries including Iran, Brazil and Kyrgyzstan, alongside two feature films by Spanish filmmakers. Under the theme “A World in Flames”, the films explore subjects ranging from the search for signs of life on Mars to Bolivia’s oldest mine and the collective psyche of Beirut.

Eleven short films from the Balearic Islands will have their world premieres at the festival. French filmmaker Jean-Gabriel Périot will be guest of honour and give a masterclass, while this year’s MajorDocs PRO sessions will focus on film distribution.
